Rodel House
Built in 1781, Rodel House is one of the islands most historic buildings. Perched on its own harbour, next to a walled garden, the building commands unrivalled views across the sea to the Isle of Skye. We worked with ANTA Architecture and a host of highly skilled tradespeople to patiently, and sympathetically restore the house to its former glory. A combination of old materials and new technologies were combined to bring out the best of the structure. Internally, a new softwood frame holds the Pavotex insulation, supports the Oak floor beams but doesn’t touch the stone. Externally, the stone was lime washed six to seven times with the last coat mixed with linseed oil for weathering. The house has recently opened as catered, holiday accommodation and we can only hope to stay there one day!
