Residential Renovation, Edinburgh

Innovative renovation to double the size of this city centre flat by connecting an unused underbuilding to the existing dwelling above.  Extensive analysis of this 1970’s brickwork and precast concrete structure was required to identify economic opportunities to connect the spaces.  A combination of steel beams and discrete brickwork structures was used to open up the underbuilding, maximise head height and flood the basement area with natural daylight
