Guardswell Farm
Transformation of tired old steading buildings into a rural events venue to host weddings, cookery classes, farm lunches, and rural events. Following an extensive structural survey it was decided to remove the roof of the central cattle area to help lift and lighten the building. SF Structures Scotland designed a new steel frame under traditional, hand nailed timber trusses to support the roof and large roof lights above the main venue area. The rest of the venue was sympathetically renovated with a focus on upcycling and reuse. We particularly love the large open windows the Architect has introduced along the south facing façade.
