Single storey, semi subterranean extension to the rear of a traditional, detached, stone Edinburgh villa. Reinforced cavity blockwork retaining walls were designed to allow the new living spaces to extend below existing ground levels. Above ground, lightweight, steel structures were incorporated into the new and existing fabric to open the structure creating large, open plan, modern, living spaces.
